Foreword from the Chair
Radstock Town Council and the Neighbourhood Plan Working group are incredibly pleased to publish the first Neighbourhood Plan. Radstock is a distinctive place and a much-loved town. One of the great legacies of its coal mining past is an active and enthusiastic community.
The Neighbourhood Plan Working Group consists primarily of volunteer residents, who have worked hard to prepare this document. The preparation of a Neighbourhood Plan is a wonderful opportunity for residents, visitors and those who work here to highlight issues of importance to our community. Preparing a planning framework protects what is important locally and makes improvements where needed. However, we appreciate that the Neighbourhood Plan must conform with the higher tier policies in the Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Local Plan.
This is the draft neighbourhood plan. You now have the opportunity to consider the policies and proposals within the plan and comment on them. You may think there are ways that the plan could be improved or give your support. A consultation period will take place from 7th October to 18th November. Copies of the draft Plan are available to view on the Radstock Town Council website, with a physical copy in the Radstock library. Drop-in sessions will be at the library, please do come in and talk to members of the Neighbourhood Plan Working Group. Local input is important to ensure the plan reflects the priorities of our community.
Following the consultation, the plan will be examined by an independent inspector and then a referendum will be held to confirm the community are happy to adopt the plan. One of the best parts of adopting a plan is the boost to Community Infrastructure Levy funds received which can be used to improve infrastructure, meaning more investment, as well as shaping the future of our area.
We do welcome your comments and feedback,
