RADSTOCK HAS MUCH TO OFFER

The Iron age settlement of Radstock sits on the Roman built Fosse Way, south west of Bath.

The discovery of coal in 1763, led to the rapid growth in the area with former mines now making up a number of the Radstock wards within the town, all of which can explored in the Radstock Museum.

The area has evolved into a network of greenspaces and active ways providing lovely walks and cycleways in beautiful countryside and the town itself is situated within a conservation area recognised by white lias and historic terraces and buildings.

It is well worth a visit.

Somer Valley Links Consultation

The Somer Valley Links (SVL) project aims to improve travel between Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Bath via the A367, Bristol via the A37, and the A362 link road between them, through better bus infrastructure and enabling more walking, wheeling and cycling.

The proposals include eight new mobility hubs, significant bus infrastructure improvements with 22 bus stop upgrades, a kilometre of new bus lanes, and substantial changes to the walking, wheeling and cycling network.

SVL is a strategic corridor project, funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) and previously led by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (WECA), within the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) programme.

The public consultation closes at midnight on Sunday 16th March.

Community Hub and Library

Radstock Town Council currently reside in the former Bath & North East Somerset Council Library building. In May 2019, the town council agreed to support the formation and continuation of a community library to support our residents. The facilities have allowed the town council to offer a space for a number of services to use. It was quickly apparent in the last few years that the space within this building was not large enough for all the activities that were needed. An opportunity to acquire for a new community space has been made possible through the acquisition of Trinity Methodist Church that will be known in the future as Trinity Hub. This has been supported by Bath & North East Somerset Council with funding made available thorough community infrastructure levy and UK shared prosperity funding.

Trinity Hub

Trinity Hub was purchased in the summer of 2024 by Radstock Town Council with the aim to create a community space for local groups and residents. Situated in the heart of Radstock, it is available to hire providing a range of rooms suitable for a variety of events including meetings, talks, performances, conferences, exhibitions and social gatherings.
